I
work with your ideas and mine to create what will fulfill your
needs! All pieces are hand formed steel. Finish varies to the client's needs. I prefer to use standard steel
forms (sheet, tubing, strap, rod) and hand form it into the needed shape, rather than using found objects and limiting my ability to create. I let the object be my guide. One lamp design uses 80 feet of hand formed and polished steel strap. I try to
incorporate wood, cloth, and stone into the designs as needed. The interplay between "organic" and "inorganic" materials adds interest and softness to the designs. The challenge is to take a material (steel) that people associate with hard and rigid forms and make a soft pleasing shape that retains a useful purpose. That is the greatest challenge.
Perhaps an explanation of the name "An-Archist" is needed. People have described some of my designs as
"arch-y" swoopy if you will; also arc welding is used so in combining the two in a bit of word play "An-Archist" was formed. |
